Jessica Lau

Jessica is a seasoned private markets investor with over two decades of experience across private equity and investment banking in Asia and North America.

Jessica is currently a Senior Advisor at Thrive Alternatives Investment Management, where she focuses on direct investment opportunities across Asia.  She works closely with funds to originate and advance high-quality private market opportunities.

Previously, Jessica was a Partner at HPEF Capital Partners (formerly HSBC Private Equity Asia), where she was a senior member of the Southeast Asia investment team. During her tenure, she played a key role in deploying ~US$1 billion across mostly control investments and was actively involved in all aspects of the investment lifecycle, including origination, execution, and portfolio management.

Jessica has extensive board experience across a range of industries including offshore oil & gas, real estate, and environmental services. She has led strategic initiatives at portfolio companies spanning M&A, capital restructuring, operational scaling, and C-suite recruitment.

Earlier in her career, Jessica worked in investment banking at Citigroup (formerly, Salmon Smith Barney) in New York, and TD Securities in Toronto, where she focused on M&A and capital markets transactions across multiple sectors.

Jessica holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance (Honours) from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.  She grew up in Canada and is currently based in Singapore.  In her leisure time, she enjoys real estate investing and travelling with her family.
